We are aiming high & will be undertaking landscape and joined up management to benefit a number of habitats and species, as well as helping to encourage local communities and children to get involved. We are also running a series of knowledge exchange sessions and workshops to enable better understanding of the habitats and species found in the White Peak and their management needs. We have a number of goals and objectives:
1.Increase the size of our group and area covered (to a minimum of 10 holdings).
2.Deliver 26 knowledge exchange sessions for farmers on grasslands, wooded habitats, grazing and restoration methods, as well as self-monitoring techniques. 3.Hold 10 workshops to discuss best practice and new methods in sustainable farmland management.
4.Undertake joined up management through the production of a landscape management plan to protect and restore habitats especially traditional hay meadows and limestone grassland to increase connectivity between Cauldon Lowe and the Dove/Manifold Valley.
5.Set up local area systems to improve restoration and management opportunities, such as a fully functioning local seed exchange and grazing and machinery rings. 6.Create and publicise volunteering opportunities to help farmers with the delivery of environmental management.
7.Engage with other local projects to promote best practice and greater partnership working.
8. Develop projects such as Growing Nature to gain school and community group participation.
